ABOUT THIS COURSE
The Level 3 Award in Security Management (RQF) has been designed for those managing security teams and want to formalise their experience. This course is also a progression route from thew QNUK Level 3 Award in Understanding Security Management.
This qualification has been developed to provide the necessary knowledge and skills for Security Managers or those aspiring to advance their careers within the security industry. This is the next step from the initial SIA licence qualifications to introduce and practice management, supervisory and leadership skills that are required to take ownership of a team and contract effectively. Staff rotas, employment legislation, risk assessments, planning patrols, handling major and minor incidents, proactive task analysis, appraisals, training needs analysis and many more functions of security management are covered along with live simulations and desktop exercises to put new abilities into practice. Refining and developing existing skill sets are an integral part of this qualification where you will also learn to conduct vehicle searching and pass these proficiencies onto your team.
The course is delivered using blended learning, using a mixture of two days in a virtual classroom followed by one day at our training centre (assessment day). This delivery method allows full access to your tutor so that you can get the most from your course.
COURSE AIM & LENGTH
This qualification develops the learner’s knowledge and understanding required for managing a security team and directly applying legislation into working practice. This qualification will support a role in the workplace, specifically an operational environment.
Virtual Classroom – 2 Days followed by 1 Day assessment (Centre Based)
This course is delivered in a virtual classroom over three days, course dates are:
11th to 13th January 2021
15th to 17th March 2021
14th to 16th June 2021
13th to 15th September 2021
Followed by one centre day for assessment (dates provided by the tutor).

The course is designed for those that are managing security teams that want to formalise their experience and want to progress their career.
QNUK Level 3 (RQF)
This course is a blended learning course, meaning that you have the benefit of a virtual classroom for the theory elements of the course, followed by one day at our training centre. This is the ideal method delivery as allows you to communicate directly with your tutor and other learners.
You will also have assignments and portfolio of evidence to complete, which will be marked by your tutor.
Learners are assessed for this qualification using the following methods:
• Portfolio of evidence
• Short answer questions
• Products of work
• Observational assessments
Unit 1 General Responsibilities of a Security Manager (L/617/8149) The learner will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to perform the general responsibilities of a security manager.
Unit 2 Legislation into operational requirements (F/617/8150) The learner will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to apply key legislation into the daily operations of a security team.
Unit 3 Operational skills of a Security Manager (J/617/8151) The learner will develop the knowledge and understanding associated with a security managers operational skill set.
Unit 4: Team leadership in a security environment (L/617/8152) The learner will develop the knowledge associated with team leadership and how to become a professional security leader.
